As a multi-disciplinary safety consultancy, our client provides support for several hundred businesses right across the UK and in all contracting and construction sectors. An opportunity has now arisen for a Specialist Construction Safety Consultant / CDM Consultant to join their team.

This is the ideal role for a safety management professional who can demonstrate a practical construction industry background, has attained IOSH Membership (Graduate or Chartered Member) and is looking to further their career with a dynamic and growing business. Our client supports and develops their staff and encourages them to achieve their career goals.

As a Health & Safety Consultant specialising in Construction, you will be tasked with developing business with existing clients and developing new business within the construction sector. This will include providing CDM – Construction (Design and Management), risk assessment development, toolbox talks and site safety audits.

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for liaising with office based consultants and other colleagues to ensure effective and efficient delivery of service to our clients. In addition to following up leads, you will also produce proposal documents & quotations and associated correspondence.

Although office based, you will be required to travel to customer sites throughout the South West, Midlands, London and occasionally further afield.

Your other duties will include:

  1. attending face-to-face appointments and leading the consultation where required;
  2. helping clients to develop a H&S plan to aid with compliancy;
  3. tactful approach to health & safety;
  4. comfortable in the delivery of safety training/safety briefings/toolbox talks;
  5. sufficient IT skills for producing clear and concise reports;
  6. proactivity in maintaining contact with clients;
  7. working within the company core behaviour expectations and standards.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

– construction industry experience;
– construction safety management experience;
– at a minimum, GradIOSH membership with CMIOSH preferred (although TechIOSH Applicants may be considered if they can demonstrate extensive practical experience on major contractor sites)

Additionally, as a Safety Consultant  you should be an effective and confident communicator with an assertive and confident approach.

Although not essential, being a full Chartered Member of IOSH would be beneficial to your application as would being based within a short travel distance of our offices in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Other details –

Circa £38,000 per annum, Car, Pension Scheme.

Working hours: 8.30-5pm Mon- Fri (some evening and weekend work may be required occasionally depending on client requirements)
