Lead HSE Manager – Somerset · £65,000 – £85,000

Are you interested in working on the largest UK nuclear construction project for a generation? Acre is proud to be working exclusively alongside the construction arm of a global utilities company to identify a hard-working and enthusiastic Lead Health, Safety and Environment Manager. The successful candidate will be involved in shaping HSE across a groundbreaking 10 year, £18 billion nuclear development. During its peak this construction project will involve 50 tower cranes and 6000 operatives on site. Working on behalf of the principal contractor on this giant undertaking, you will lead a team of HSE Advisors responsible for insuring all sub-contractors and supply chain operate in a safe and compliant manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing, developing and leading a team of experienced HSE Advisors
  • Participating in creating, maintaining and improving HSE initiatives in the workplace
  • Communicating effectively with a multitude of key stakeholders, from company directors to site sub-contractors
  • Influencing the multi-disciplinary team on HSE issues relating to pre-construction planning and project evaluation
  • Providing assurance that the designers and sub-contractors are complying with complying with requirements under CDM Regulations 2015
  • Undertaking frequent site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations where appropriate
  • Being proactive in the creation and implementation of systems and programmes which underpin HSE awareness across the project

This position will suit individuals that have great communications skills, a collaborative working style and are commercially minded. Previous experience of leading teams on major infrastructure or construction projects is essential.

Key Requirements

  • CMIOSH or GradIOSH working towards chartership
  • NEBOSH Diploma / NCRQ Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working on major infrastructure or construction projects
  • Experience on managing HSE teams on construction projects
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
