HSE People is proud to be working with a team of Champions to raise the profile of the HSE industry and to support our members. Today we speak with Melissa Fazackerley, SHEQ Manager at Longworth Building Services.
What is your job title, where do you work and what do you do?
SHEQ Manager, Longworth Building Services. I head up the SHEQ for the business and work on management systems, strategic planning for SHEQ and day to day operational support.
How did you get started in HSE?
I got started in health and safety by accident (like most of us do). I was health and safety admin support and the Health and Safety Director at the time asked if I wanted to do my NEBOSH and here I am now!
Why did you want to become an HSE People Champion?
It’s an opportunity to get involved with wider industry, to contribute and above all, to keep on learning.
Who or what inspires you?
So much inspires me. Professionally there are so many great people in our industry who are working to make a difference and to support others. I love being part of that network.
What are you excited about for 2023?
Opportunity to learn, experience new things and meet new people.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Mind control – health and safety would be a lot easier!
I’d love to be able to fly as my super power, see the world from a new angle, peace and quiet and go explore remote places.
