BACKGROUND
Reproductive health is important for both men and women as it affects their overall physical, emotional, and social well-being. π€°π»π€±π» Unfortunately, many workplaces have reprotoxic hazards, potentially exposing workers to unacceptable levels of risk and endangering their health. β οΈ Historically, the management of reproductive health risks followed the restriction of all female workers from any work with reprotoxic hazards. βοΈπ«In a modern and diverse workplace, such an approach is no longer practicable and is potentially discriminative. π·π·ββοΈ Nowadays, a pragmatic risk-based approach is required to successfully manage reproductive hazards at work. β
OBJECTIVES π―
This webinar aims to familiarise health and safety professionals with common chemical and non-chemical reprotoxic hazards that may be encountered at work. Common toxicity mechanisms of reprotoxic chemicals will be examined, and a pragmatic risk-based approach to managing occupational exposures to reprotoxic hazards will be presented.
AGENDA π‘
The following topics will be covered in this webinar:
- Fundamentals of the reproductive system
- Reproductive toxicity endpoints
- Common approaches to managing reprotoxic hazards
- Non-chemical reprotoxic hazards (biological, physical, ergonomics and psychosocial)
- Chemicals reprotoxic hazards (heavy metals, solvents and organic compounds)
- Threshold vs non-threshold toxicity mechanism
- Examining OEL basis for reproductive health protection
- The risk-based approach to controlling reprotoxic hazards
- Changes in European legislation (CMD directive)
OUTCOMES π
At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Appreciate the basic components of the reproductive system
- Recognise common reprotoxic hazards at work
- Understand health effects caused by exposure to reprotoxic hazards
- Appreciate the difference between threshold and non-threshold-acting substances
- Confidently examine the OEL basis for reproductive health protection
- Carry our risk-based risk assessment for reproductive health risks at work
FORMAL RECOGNITION π
This webinar is formally accredited by “The CPD Group”. All webinar attendees will receive the certificate of attendance and will be able to claim 2 CPD credits π₯ for their professional development. π¨βππ©βπ
