As anticipation builds for the Health & Safety Event 2024, all eyes are on TOTECTORS, a leading innovator in safety footwear. With a reputation for pushing the boundaries of safety innovation, TOTECTORS is poised to unveil their latest creation: the Williams boot.
Now part of International Brands Group, TOTECTORS underwent a significant reboot in 2022, but its roots delve deeper into history. The brand’s origins trace back to the height of World War II when Bill Denton, of the renowned Northamptonshire-based shoemaking pioneers Wilkins & Denton, identified an urgent need for sturdier safety footwear, especially in heavy industries. This realisation led him on a daring maritime mission to the US during the Battle of the Atlantic, where he crossed paths with Arthur Williams, the owner of the patent for steel toe cap design.
Initially met with reluctance, Denton’s determination eventually led to a ground breaking deal secured after a marathon 48-hour poker game. This pivotal moment marked the birth of Totectors, a brand steeped in history, now celebrated in its current product range, with the Williams safety boot being the latest addition alongside the Denton model.
“It’s important to acknowledge our heritage and the journey that led us here,” says Rhys Elavia, Head of Sales, TOTECTORS UK. “The story of TOTECTORS is one of resilience, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of safety and style. We aim to honour that legacy with every product we create.”
In an industry where practicality often overshadows style, TOTECTORS distinguishes itself by marrying both aspects. “Our message is ‘Keep Your Look,'” explains Rhys. “We don’t want our customers to compromise on style. We’re reaching out to the younger consumer by emulating what they’re already wearing on the weekend while ensuring they have safe, functional, and comfortable footwear at work.”
The newly launched Williams boot epitomises this philosophy, offering meticulous design and unique features. Setting itself apart from competitors, the Williams boot features a Clarino upper lining, replacing traditional leather with a material that is 30% stronger, more resistant to abrasion, and lighter in weight. Additionally, Clarino boasts superior UV resistance and meets the latest acid protection standards, ensuring durability and longevity.
Safety remains paramount in every aspect of the Williams boot’s construction. Arch support guards against twisted ankles, while a heel cradle protects the Achilles tendon. The boot features a 3mm open-cell PU foam footbed for instant comfort, along with a Kevlar-built midsole for penetration protection. Achieving the highest SR-rated oil and slip resistance, the Williams boot also boasts anti-static properties, ensuring comprehensive safety in various work environments.
“As we unveil the Williams boot at the Health & Safety Event 2024, we invite industry professionals and consumers alike to experience the pinnacle of safety footwear,” says Rhys. “We’re proud to continue the tradition of innovation and excellence that defines TOTECTORS, setting new standards in safety, comfort, and style.”
